We Like It Wednesday #9
We’ve been busy getting stuck into our recent graduate advice features (here and here, with a couple more on the way) and basking in the Northern sunshine over the last couple of weeks, so it’s time to cap off all our hard work with a quick WLIW.
WE LIKE APPS WE CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT – GBOARD
We can always rely on Google to fix the little problems and, in this instance, make us wonder where this has been all of our lives! The Gboard app for iOS (US only, for now…) is a small addition to the keyboard that aims to stop us endlessly and annoyingly switching apps whilst typing. Whether it’s searching the web or getting the right GIF, the Gboard app becomes a mini browser baked into whichever the app you’re using. The only question is, how is this not coming to Android users first?!*
WE LIKE THE LITTLE THINGS – SMALL VICTORIES
So you need a website (we design and build those, by the way) – you’ve got some pictures, some text, a couple of fonts that you quite like, oh and you’ve put them all in a Dropbox folder ready for you to make use of on a rainy day. Well maybe Small Victories by XXIX can help you out. By signing into Dropbox, Small Victories will use these assets to create a functioning site that you can tweak and use for, well, whatever you feel like.
Given the way that the sites are made, you might expect a bit of a hodgepodge of results, but they’ve been turning out really well and are a brilliant proof of concept. +1 for technology.
WE LIKE LEARNING – THE MANCHESTER COLLEGE
If you’re an avid reader of WLIW (and who knows, somebody might be) you’ll know that earlier in the year, we teamed up with The Manchester College and set a branding brief with their first year FdA students. Twelve weeks later and the results have massively impressed us. For students under a year into their design education, we couldn’t have asked for much more, so congratulations to all the students involved.
