ShinDigger Brewing Co. began in Manchester when two university friends started experimenting with homebrew recipes and pouring pints at house parties. As demand quickly grew, the brand needed a visual identity that could capture its energy and stand out in an increasingly crowded craft beer market. Ahoy partnered with ShinDigger to create a bold design system that could grow alongside the brewery’s expanding range.
Our challenge was to translate their community-driven spirit into a clear, flexible visual language that could support growth across products, venues, and collaborations.
The creative
Working closely with the team, we developed a flexible design system that allows each beer to express its own character while still feeling part of the same brand family. Each release is built around a unique pattern and colour palette chosen to reflect the personality of the beer, ensuring no two cans look the same while still forming a cohesive range. Bold patterns and vibrant colours give the cans strong shelf presence and reflect the brand’s energetic Manchester roots. The modular system also allows the identity to adapt easily for seasonal brews and collaborations without compromising consistency.
The result
Since launching, ShinDigger has grown from a small homebrew project into one of Manchester’s most recognisable independent breweries, producing around 1.4 million pints each year and releasing more than forty different beers. The distinctive packaging has helped the brand cut through in an increasingly competitive craft beer market, supporting expansion into bars, retailers, and direct-to-consumer channels. ShinDigger has also secured major partnerships as the business has grown, including becoming an official supplier to Manchester’s Co-op Live arena, where its beers are served across the venue.
