What’s your story? What brought you to AHOY and where were you before?
I was in marketing on the client side for a few years before testing the waters at an agency, in which I was at for a year before coming to Ahoy. I’ve always really enjoyed marketing but my real passion was sparked when I moved to the agency side, it is so fast paced and no two days are the same.
Ahoy have always done amazing work which is continuously talked about in the creative industry so it was a no brainer to join somewhere that is so well known around Manchester.
What does a typical day / week at AHOY look like for you?
No two days are ever the same and that’s what I like about it. I have such a short attention span that it works really well for me to be in and out of different projects, each with completely different things going on. A typical day or week is usually surrounded by to-do lists, schedules and client briefs.
Describe yourself at work in three words
Organised, resilient and optimistic.
Describe yourself at home in three words
Chilled-out, can that be hyphenated so it only counts as one word? Sociable and happy.
What’s the best bit of your job?
I like being the problem solver, I love the projects when the client comes to you with an issue. For example their website isn’t converting and we work together to understand the needs of the business and their customers, and solve the problem. It’s really rewarding to see a potentially struggling business become successful. I also really enjoy the totally different projects I could be working on; we work across a variety of industries so find I can really learn a lot from the different projects, team members and clients I work with.
Where can you be found when you’re not here at AHOY?
Re-decorating my house over and over again or I can be found drinking Aperol Spritz with my friends.
Tell us something about yourself people might be surprised by.
I’m named after an African tree? My full name is Kessiah which is derived (somehow) from the Acacia tree. My parents are Scottish so zero relation to Africa, just a very random name choice. And now I live a life of mis-pronunciation and awkward ice-breakers about how unique my name is.
