Jason McCullough
They say good things come in small packages, and Jason is no exception. The man, the enigma – this is his story.
What’s your story? What brought you to Ahoy and where were you before?
My journey is a little different to that of a typical Account Manager. I actually qualified and worked as an electrician before moving to Ahoy. After a couple of cold winters on a dirty building site, I quickly realised it wasn’t really my passion in life and I started to look for another challenge.
I’ve always enjoyed variety and working in a customer facing role so when the opportunity came up to join the account management team here at Ahoy, I knew it would be a perfect fit and I jumped at the chance to join.
What does a typical day / week at AHOY look like for you?
Every day here is so different so it’s hard to say what a ‘typical’ day / week looks like, which suits me perfectly. One day I could be dealing with new business and pulling together proposals and the next, I”m overseeing a photoshoot or delivering a design presentation to a client.
I like to keep myself organised so there’s always a certain level of planning that goes into things to keep the plates spinning but there will always be something that gets thrown in to keep me on my toes.
Describe yourself at work in three words
Organised, empathetic, proactive
Describe yourself at home in three words
Probably as far away from organised as you can get. Easygoing and sociable pretty much sums me up outside of the office.
What’s the best bit of your job?
I love the broad variety of projects I get to work on day to day. No two days are ever the same and no two clients are the same either. Being able to listen to a clients needs and fully immerse myself into a business or industry that I may have had little prior knowledge off, in order to offer impactful solutions to their problems is such a rewarding part of my job.
Where can you be found when you’re not here at Ahoy?
I’m currently saving for a house so when I’m not at Ahoy you will probably find me at home looking down the back of my sofa for some loose change. When I’m not doing that, you will more than likely find me out in the middle of nowhere, on a walk, or out catching up with friends. I live and work in the city centre so come the weekend, I’m usually in favour of any plans that involve getting out and about.
